About this Program
The Skills Development Centre opened on 17 August 2026 at two sites, Lenasia South and Evaton West, offering Home Economics, Sewing, Electrical, and Plumbing. Within its first three weeks it enrolled 98 active learners across all five classes.
Women make up 70% of current participants, including 15 women training in the traditionally male-dominated Electrical and Plumbing trades. From mid-September 2026, the centre is also extending weekend classes to 45 orphaned children aged 12 to 15, run in partnership with Don Mattera School.
Demand has already outgrown current capacity: 47 prospective students are on the waiting list for the 2027 intake.
